Getting the Nails Did

as a birthday present my mom got me a mani/pedi since i will be attending a wedding tomorrow (which is a whole nother story.) my favorite things about getting my nails done is not actually getting them done. i actual don’t like it i always feel like i should be spending that time doing something way more productive than then sitting in a massaging chair ( my 1. favorite part of the whole experience).
ever since i was a pre-teen i always painted my nails black (or some other dark color like navy blue, plum, or grey) other colors just look funny on me. case in point last year when my best friend got married we all went and got our nails done togther. i had them do mine a pale pearlescent pink, and all the girls laughed at me, including my best friend the bride. she actually told me after the fact that if i had wanted to do my normal thing she would have been fine with that.
anyway back to today. i get my nails done toes done pink (or as OPI calls it I Mainely Eat Lobster) and then i got sit at the nail station and i have a different tech working on my nails. she looks at the bottle and goes:
tech:” you rearry want black”.
me:yes i really want the black. “
tech: not pretty pink like toes
me: nope i would really like the black please
tech: but not as pretty as wants on feet
me: nope black please.
me (internal thoughts)are you kidding me lady i’m paying you to do as i ask if i want them painted vomit green then you paint them that color.
i know that black is not the fun pretty summer color but its my color its the color i always go to its me. Black nail polish is tough, clean, and means buisness, and thats what fingers do they are all about the buisness. toes are suppose to be fun not everyone sees them and when they do they can see the real personality. my toes are always bright colors with funky designs.
also there were three little girls (3rd graders) getting pedicures for back to school. there was also a woman their with her mother, and best friend. the friend was sitting there getting her feet done having an anderson cooper style giggle fit in the chair.
and in typical meaghan fashion i smudged the nail polish immediately after leaving ( even after 4 courses under the lamp and fan) and they are already chipped. its been 4hrs
